1. The Spark

What was the exact problem or frustration you were trying to solve when you decided to build YouEx.ai?

I was leading a GTM team while also consulting with several Fortune 500 companies on GenAI strategy and implementation, so I was seeing the same problem from both sides. Rolling out a basic chat system is relatively quick, but embedding AI deeply into workflows is where you start to see real value. Nearly every company I worked with was struggling with that, and reinventing the wheel again and again. Building those integrations takes time and effort they didn't have, especially with pressure from CEOs and boards to get something out fast.

At the same time, software engineering teams were showing us what good looks like, and it wasn't just vibe coding. AI was becoming embedded in the software development lifecycle in code reviews, CI, source control, documentation, QA, and more. Business function teams are still struggling to build that same kind of integrated experience.

Software engineering teams didn't get dramatically more productive because they got a chatbot. They got more productive because AI became part of how they actually work. I wanted to bring that same idea to sales, and YouEx.ai is built to do that for sellers.

2. The Solution & The Build

What is the core feature of YouEx.ai that solves this problem, and what design choice did you personally spend the most time obsessing over?

The core of YouEx.ai is that it intentionally isn't a point solution. There are already too many independent sales tools that each solve one piece of the problem and then require someone to stitch them all together. And usually it’s someone who would be better off selling instead of connecting tools. I wanted YouEx to be able to handle an entire sales workflow in one place, from engaging a prospect on your website to researching and qualifying the lead, routing it, following up, booking a meeting, and managing the opportunity.

The part I've personally spent the most time obsessing over is the Web Agent. It's unique because it isn't just representing my brand, it's representing my customer's brand on their website. That raises the bar quite a bit. You want it to answer questions a certain way, gather the right information, qualify a lead, and take action, but AI has a tendency to be a little unpredictable. At the same time, that unpredictability is what makes it powerful. If you constrain it too much, you've basically built another scripted chatbot.

3. The Reality Check

What has been the most surprising piece of user feedback or unexpected hurdle you have had to navigate since launching YouEx.ai?

The biggest reality check has been that the only thing sales teams hate more than their CRM is a CRM migration project.

I started YouEx wanting to reinvent how CRM works for sales teams. I've seen so many companies bogged down by CRM implementations that are basically expensive Rolodexes. Difficult to use, painful to maintain, and providing very little direct value to the seller themselves.

What I underestimated was how much inertia there is once a CRM becomes embedded in a company. Even when people don't particularly like the system they have, replacing it can feel worse than living with it, so now we’re working on adding native integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, and other CRMs.

4. Behind the Scenes

As a builder in this space, what is one tool or habit in your daily workflow that you genuinely couldn't live without?

I'll say GitHub Actions and Cursor Bugbot. We use a lot of AI in the work we do, but one of the most useful things we've done is automate an adversarial code review process where one agent writes or fixes the code and another agent reviews and challenges it. Every pull request goes through that process before we merge it.

It's helped us maintain a high quality bar while still moving quickly with AI. I think that's an element of "vibe coding" that a lot of teams are still sleeping on. If you're going to use AI to increase the amount of code you can produce, you also need to think about how you use AI to increase the amount of scrutiny that code gets.

5. The Future & Where to Find It

What is the next big milestone or feature you are working on for YouEx.ai, and where can people go to try it out?

One of the next big milestones for us is launching YouEx on Salesforce AgentExchange. As I mentioned, we've learned that even when sales teams aren't happy with their CRM, that doesn't necessarily mean they want to replace it. So we're making it easier to bring YouEx into the systems and workflows they already have.

We're also building an n8n integration to complement our Zapier plugin, and rolling out a WordPress plugin to make deploying YouEx much easier for WordPress users. A big part of what we're focused on is removing the technical work required to get AI deeply integrated into a sales workflow.

We also just launched AI Forms, which was a bit of a mental hurdle for me to get over. I still think AI chat is a better website experience than forms in most scenarios, but I had to come to grips with the fact that most everybody else just wants a form on their site. So we decided to make the form better by adding an AI assistant that can answer questions and even help someone fill it out.
